Upcycled Fused Plastic Mirror

By MonkeyDogStudio

My fellow craft mafiosa Crystal J. Silk made these fantastic 3" upcycled fused plastic mirrors that come with their own fused plastic pouch! What a great way to rescue plastic shopping bags from the waste-stream while helping a girl look stylish.

From August 10-23, she's giving away one of these mirrors with each purchase from her Paper-N-Stitch exhibit, so stop by and check out her handpainted silk goodies!

Images from the 2nd Annual Jonny Z Festival

By MonkeyDogStudio

Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate the memory of Jonny Z this past Saturday.

My booth looks so empty without me behind it! One of the highlights of my day was meeting a woman with a rat terrier named Monkeydog who is also a screamer and a climber like my dog Brent. Another highlight was meeting online friend Tiffany Ferriera, art teacher and founder of the Real Small Art League.

Some of my Bizarre Market neighbors at the Grove end of Shields Ave: Erica Vess of Bees Knees Studio, Vilkas D'angelo-horvath of HEXY, and PJ Sykes, live music photographer extraordinaire.

Robin Lee of Lookability chats with a customer.

The awesome mobile mural painted by artists from St. Andrew's School.

Announcements and music from the WRIR tent.

The Really Really Free Market represents. And yeah, it's all free!

The Photosynthesizers rock the festival.

Change purses

By MonkeyDogStudio

Here's an example of some of the change purses I'll have for Bizarre Market at the Jonny Z Fest this Saturday from 12-5p in front of Joe's Inn. These are made using remnants and reclaimed fabrics. A few in this pic have already sold, but there will be plenty of others to choose from.

Stop by and say hi!

Meet Pistol Squirrel

Pistol Squirrel, originally uploaded by MonkeyDog-Studio.

Meet Pistol Squirrel. Pistol Squirrel is one of the many dangerous animals you'll find at my table during this Saturday's 2nd Annual Jonny Z Fest. With him will be some of his friends: Ninja Squid, Rifle Rabbit, and Kangaroo Hatchet Rat.

Along with the dangerous animals, you'll also find change purses made from reclaimed and remnant fabrics, ceramic rings, and maybe a few assorted housewares.

Stop by and say hi if you get the chance!

Jonathan Zanin, known to a countless list of adoring friends as Jonny Z, died in 2007 at the age of 26. Zanin is remembered as a creative and compassionate soul, a lover and maker of art and music, a friend to all and enemy to none, a champion for the underdog. The festival honors his legacy, celebrates his spirit, and promotes art, music, community and friendship.
